What is a Blogger?

In spite of the growing popularity of blogging, many people on the net still don't know the meaning of blogger, or why blogs are important. Perhaps I can clear that up.

In its simplest terms, a blog is an online journal or diary, and a blogger is the author of a blog. Some blogs are strictly the observations of the blogger, while others allow for comments from readers, and operate something like a forum or bulletin board.

Blogs started primarily as personal journals, although they quickly evolved to become political tools, and a format for social commentary. Bloggers are said to have significantly influenced the political campaigns during the 2004 election season, and have gained mass appeal.

More recently, blogging has gained popularity among internet marketers, and both small and large businesses, as a mechanism to increase traffic to their websites, communicate with potential customers, and "brand" a business.

Starting a blog is probably the simplest way to start an internet business. As people read your blog and become familiar with you, they become your potential customers. Promoting products through affiliate links embedded in a blog is also a very simple way to start an online business.

As an active blogger myself, I maintain several internet marketing blogs.

Please visit my blogs, and consider buying my new blogging guide, which will teach you everything you need to know to start a blog, and use it for personal use or internet marketing. And of course you'll understand the meaning of bloggers and blogging. You'll no longer ask, "what is a blogger?"
